Delta-inspired blues, gospel-infused slide guitar

I’m The Deacon, a Milwaukee musician playing old blues with electric slide guitar, vocals, and a foot stomp. I’m drawn to the songs of Son House, John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, and the stories behind the music.
I picked up the guitar in my early 50s. The Bench Sessions grew out of taking those songs out into the world. This site follows the music and the work along the way.

Fall Bench Sessions – 2026
The Bench Sessions are informal solo blues performances, mostly from a bench in Milwaukee’s Third Ward, with occasional stops elsewhere.
Stop for a song or stay for a few. Everyone is welcome.
No stage. No tip jar. No big production. Just songs and whoever happens to walk by.

Fall 2026
As soon as the weather gets too cold for outdoor bench sessions, I'll take them online for the winter. Then, when spring arrives, I'll head back outdoors.
I'm also hoping to find bars, breweries, or other venues where I can play regular indoor sets next spring and summer. If you know of places that might be interested in some live blues, perhaps on off nights, let me know!
Thanks!
